Divine Coconut Pecan Frosting

Perfect German Chocolate CakeThis frosting will make your mouth water. It’s luscious. Use it to frost a perfect german chocolate cake and you’ll get rave reviews.


  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 egg yolk, beaten with 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup flaked coconut


  1. Mix evaporated milk and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. In a large saucepan combine evaporated milk mixture, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in pecans and coconut. Spread barely warm frosting on cooled cake.


  • Substitute 1 cup chopped walnuts for the pecans.
  • Substituted 1 cup toasted, flaked coconut for the coconut.
