If you can’t get enough chocolate, this cake is to die for. Dark chocolate laced with chocolate. Best frosted with dark fudge frosting. Serve with chocolate chocolate chunk ice cream for good measure.

Maximum Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Fudge Frosting

  • 2 C white sugar
  • 1 3/4 C flour
  • 3/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C milk
  • 1/2 C vegetable oil
  • 2 t vanilla extract
  • 1 C boiling water

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add the eggs, cream, oil, and vanilla. Mix for 3 minutes with an electric mixer.
  3. Stir in the boiling water by hand, very thoroughly. Pour evenly into the two pans.
  4. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until center of cake springs back when touched  lightly and toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Cool for a full 10 minutes before removing from pans.
